How to get rid of peeling skin?

My skin isn't really dry, and I always moisturize it, but it does peel and flake. My nose and forehead look horrible up close with my make up. I can't be the only person with this problem so I was wondering if anyone had tips for gentle exfoliation or thing to do before I put on my make up?
