How do you get a tan?

I'm only a young teen and want to get a good tan without burning my skin. I have fair skin and I burn easily but don't tan well. What can I use or do to get a good tan? I would like it to be real but if you think I don't have a chance with that could you suggest something else? I don't want to burn myself that bad and peel to badly either. If I have to thats fine I guess. And I also don't want to do anything that will likely give me skin damage or skin cancer or something. Just what can you suggest to me. Thanks for reading this!
