Ceramic or porcelain for kitchen tile?

We have linoleum flooring in our kitchen and it is starting to crack and peel so we are going to install tile. We are going to install it ourselves. My husband has never installed it, but very good at things like that (he used to install cabinets and do epoxy flooring in garages. We found a porcelain tile that we found for $1.48 sq ft. Is there a huge difference between ceramic and porcelain tile?
