My skin is starting to peel! It's gross! What is the best thing for preventing it from further peeling?

I went camping for a week and got super tan! It's nice but like I said I'm starting to peel and I am going to the beach here pretty soon and I don't want to be all spotty. Any helps is very much appriciated:)
